2022 Septic Tank Emptying Schedule in Sutton

Sutton residents can now consult the list of septic tank emptying dates and addresses scheduled between July 18 and October 21, 2022 on the Town’s website. Each residence will be notified by mail of the date of the arrival of the company mandated by the Town, namely Beauregard Environnement Ltée.

Emptying will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.  You do not have to pay the contractor directly, as this service is billed directly to your tax bill. The Town of Sutton has instituted a systematic septic tank emptying program every two years for permanent residences and secondary residences, in order to adequately protect public health and the environment, and in accordance with the Regulation respecting wastewater disposal systems for isolated dwellings (Q-2, R.22).

We would like to remind you of the instructions to be followed to ensure that this program runs smoothly:

  • Remove the two (2) covers of the septic tank leaving a free space of at least 15 cm (6 inches) wider and deeper than the cover. Remove the screws holding the plastic covers in place, if any. You do not have to lift the lids, the contractor will open and close them;

Well-cleared cover

  • Clearly identify the location of the septic system with a stake or marker to make it easier to locate;
  • If you have a Bionest system with a pump, the pump must be turned off before emptying. A sign should be left near the tank to indicate that the pump is turned off;
  • For a septic system equipped with a prefilter, the contractor will be able to clean the prefilter during the emptying process if you leave a garden hose nearby;
  • The area around the septic tank must be free of any obstacles: ornaments, toys, etc.
  • The site must be safe and accessible (dog tied, fence unlocked, etc.). The building number must be visible from the public road.
  • A service area for the vacuum truck must be located 40 metres (131 feet) or less from the septic system and have a minimum clearance for the truck. In some cases, a road may be used as a service area. If more than 100 feet (30 metres) of hose is required, please contact the contractor.

ATTENTION: You are required to clear the pit lids by the date specified by the contractor. A $100 fee will be charged by the Town via the contractor if the truck has to return a second time to empty the pit.

Thank you for your cooperation!
