First Responders
The Town of Sutton has a 24/7 first responder service. They are the first line of emergency response, helping to reduce wait times for assistance in life-threatening situations.
First responders are dispatched to emergency scenes by the Alerte Santé (9-1-1) centre, according to the call’s code and priority. Their mandate is to assess patients’ conditions, provide stabilization and first aid, and, if necessary, perform resuscitation procedures while awaiting the arrival of ambulance services.
All first responders receive a minimum of 30 hours of training, including theoretical courses and extensive practical and simulation exercises. They also undergo annual recertifications. Equipped with two emergency vehicles carrying essential gear (oxygen, defibrillator, Epipen, etc.), they respond to emergencies in accordance with the strict protocols established by the Public Health Agency.
