The Recreation, Community Life and Culture Department aims to promote access to culture, sports, outdoor activities, green spaces, recreation, and community life in order to contribute meaningfully to the well-being, overall health, and quality of life of the community. This is done in collaboration with local partners, while fostering a sense of pride and belonging in Sutton

• It develops, implements, and monitors policies and action plans related to its mission (including the Family and Seniors Policy, Cultural Policy, and the Policy on Recognition and Support for Non-Profit Organizations).
• It develops and publishes, three times a year, a detailed schedule of activities and events offered within the municipality in the areas of sports, cultural, and community recreation.
• It reviews and processes support requests submitted by recognized organizations.
• It processes authorization requests for holding events or activities within the municipality, as well as requests to rent municipal community halls.
• It manages the administration of municipal sports facilities and fields (pool, tennis, pickleball, baseball, basketball, soccer, skating rink, and ice path).
• It organizes the municipal day camp and aquatic activities offered each summer.
• It manages the development of municipal parks in collaboration with the Public Works and Fixed Assets Department.
• It organizes and/or collaborates on recurring or one-time public events (Winter Fun, Volunteer Appreciation Evening, Generations Celebration, Quebec National Holiday, Halloween, Christmas Market).
• It oversees the management of the municipal library.
• It supports cultural mediation projects.
• It encourages and supports collaboration among and with local organizations in order to build strong community connections.
