Job Offer: Electoral staff


The Town of Sutton is currently looking for people 18 years of age and older to fill its electoral staff list for the municipal elections to be held on November 7, 2021.

Vacant positions

The returning officer is recruiting for the following positions:

• Deputy returning officer;
• Secretary of the polling station;
• Information and law enforcement officer (PRIMO);
• Member of an identity verification panel.

Applications will be evaluated by the returning officer who will allocate positions according to established criteria.

Conditions and requirements

People must be available on October 31 (9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.), November 7 (9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and possibly on another date to be determined (9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.).

One or more paid training will also be given. Date(s) to be determined between October 4 and November 1.

Those who agree to fill these temporary positions will be entitled to remuneration and a record of employment will be sent to them at the end of the election period. As they play an important role in the management of electoral operations, they must refrain from all partisan activity while performing their duties.

Before applying as a member of the electoral staff, make sure you fulfill the conditions set out in the Act respecting Elections and Referendums in Municipalities. Certain provisions of this Law could prevent you from submitting your candidacy, for example, if you already hold an elective position in another municipality. Also, by virtue of article 69 of this Law, “A person is not qualified to hold office as an election officer of any municipality if he is convicted of an offence that is a corrupt electoral practice within the meaning of section 645 the Act respecting school elections to elect certain members of the boards of directors of English-language school service centres (chapter E-2.3) or the Election Act (chapter E-3.3)”.

Job offer: Responsible for maintenance and surveillance of municipal facilities

Located in the Brome-Missisquoi MRC, the Town of Sutton is a municipality of more than 4,000 permanent residents and more than 3,500 part-time residents. Citizens and many tourists enjoy an enviable standard of living in Sutton thanks to its orientations that revolve around the principles of sustainable development and protection of its landscapes. In order to resume recreational activities for our citizens, the Town is currently looking for a person:


Under the authority of the Recreation, Community Life and Culture Coordinator, the person holding the position ensures access to and maintenance of Town premises in order that recreational activities may be held (Goyette-Hill park chalet, museum, school gymnasium, municipal library).

Job Description

  • Open and close the doors at the hours specified by the Town;
  • Supervise the premises during reservations;
  • Set up and dismantle sports equipment required by users;;
  • Store the equipment used after each reservation and hand over the premises as they were on arrival;
  • Clean the premises and the washrooms so that the premises are clean after each reservation;
  • Provide the Recreation and Community Life Coordinator with a monthly report on the progress of activities

  • Have a flexible schedule;
  • Be punctual;
  • Be autonomous and show leadership;


  • One-year contract, part-time (10-15 hours/week);
  • Salary to be established according to the salary scales in force
