Mount Echo Fire – Update on Tuesday, 3 p.m.
The SOPFEU team, accompanied by firefighters from Sutton and Potton, was on the ground today. However, aerial spraying operations could not take place due to low clouds and poor visibility.
The SOPFEU airplanes were unable to fly in and continue spraying water, nor was the helicopter that had been scheduled. However, firefighters were able to get very close to the blaze and see that it was still active. They prepared the ground and installed portable pools that will be used to transport water by helicopter.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, operations will resume with the airplanes and the helicopter, depending on weather conditions. We continue to monitor the situation very closely.
The trails and the entire area remain strictly closed.
