Take part in the Government Survey on Municipal Infrastructure by June 10!
The Quebec government would like to hear from the public, elected officials and municipal administrators, as well as stakeholders in the construction sector, to provide food for thought on the challenges surrounding the cost and financing of municipal infrastructure, particularly water infrastructure. The process will result in recommendations to the Minister of Municipal Affairs by December 2026. Take part in the citizen survey!
– MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTÈRE DES AFFAIRES MUNICIPALES ET DE L’HABITATION DU QUÉBEC –
Municipal infrastructure plays an essential role in the daily lives of citizens and in the development of communities. Faced with rising costs and growing needs, municipalities, with the support of the Quebec government, must devote ever-increasing sums to the maintenance, repair and development of infrastructures, particularly those related to water.
Survey addressed to all citizens
This online survey is open to all Quebec residents. It consists of a series of multiple-choice questions. The consultation runs until June 10.
It aims to document the public’s perception of :
- the state of municipal infrastructures;
- water and sewer services;
- investment priorities and funding resources;
- relations between cities and the construction industry, and vice versa.

The responses collected will help the government to better understand the public’s expectations regarding the level and quality of services, the prioritization of investments and the collective financial responsibility associated with municipal infrastructures.
Note: for the purposes of this consultation, the term “infrastructure” refers to buildings, equipment or civil engineering works that contribute to the provision of government services. Examples include roads, municipal buildings, parks, incinerators and water infrastructures. Water infrastructures refer more specifically to works such as drinking water treatment plants, water and sewage pipes, purification basins, etc.
