New 2026 List of Septic Tank Pumping Dates and Addresses – Updated as of July 24, 2023

Emptying will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. You do not have to pay the contractor, as this service is billed directly to your tax bill. In fact, the Town of Sutton has implemented a program for the systematic emptying of septic tanks every two years, in order to adequately protect public health and the environment, and to comply with the Regulation respecting waste water disposal systems for isolated dwellings (Q-2, R.22).

We would like to remind you of the guidelines you must follow to ensure this program runs smoothly:

  • Provide unobstructed access for a truck with a minimum height and width of 4.2 meters (14’);
  • Remove the two (2) septic tank covers, leaving a clear space at least 15 cm (6 inches) wider and deeper than the cover. Remove the screws securing the plastic covers, if any. You do not need to lift the covers; the contractor will open and close them;
Covers that are clearly visible and unobstructed
  • Clearly mark the location of the septic system with a stake or marker to make it easier to find;
  • If you have a Bionest-type system equipped with a pump, the pump must be turned off before emptying the tank. A sign must be placed near the tank to indicate that the pump is turned off;
  • For a septic system equipped with a pre-filter, the contractor will be able to clean it during the pump-out if you leave a garden hose nearby;
  • The area around the septic tank must be free of any obstacles, such as decorations, toys, etc.
  • The property must be safe and accessible (dog on a leash, unlocked gate, etc.). The property address number must be visible from the public road.
  • A service area designated for the vacuum truck must be located 40 meters (131 feet) or less from the septic system and have sufficient clearance to allow the truck to pass. In some cases, a road may serve as a service area. If more than 100 feet (30 meters) of hose is required, please contact the contractor.

WARNING: You are required to clear the septic tank covers by the date specified by the contractor. An additional fee of one hundred sixty-five dollars ($165.00) will be charged to any property owner who fails to prepare their property or clear the septic tank covers by the scheduled emptying date, in accordance with By-Law No. 172 establishing a periodic septic tank sludge removal service, as amended. In the event of a repeat offense, the fee charged will be three hundred dollars ($300).

Thank you for your cooperation!
