A Volunteer from Sutton Honoured!
The Town of Sutton is very proud to announce that Roger Gervais, a volunteer who has been actively involved in the community for several decades, has been honored at the 2026 Hommage bénévolat-Québec Awards!
This winter, the Department of Recreation, Community Life and Culture wanted to officially recognize Roger Gervais’s involvement in our community by nominating him for the 2026 Hommage bénévolat-Québec Award. Although his nomination was not selected for an official award, he is the proud recipient of an honorary certificate through which the Government of Quebec thanks him for his volunteer work.
Roger Gervais, a pillar of our community!
In addition to being a helpful entrepreneur who is always attentive to the community’s needs, Roger served on the board of directors of the Sutton Economic Development Corporation (CDES) for several years and on the municipal council as a council member in the early 2000s.

For the past five years, the Sutton School of Art (EAS) has relied on him to manage finances, recruit volunteers, and train them for all events organized by the organization (The Spring of Architecture, Arts Camps, The Little Book Fair, etc.). Thanks to its diverse cultural and artistic programming—and to its dedicated volunteers—the EAS continues to grow in popularity, attracting tourists year-round while also delighting the local community.
Volunteers and citizens like Roger Gervais deserve to be celebrated. They are the ones who help build vibrant, strong, and resilient cities and towns.
