And we’re off for the Challenge!

From June 1 to 30, Sutton is on the move! ParticipACTION’s Community Challenge is launched and we’re counting on you to accumulate activity minutes today on the ParticipACTION application.

After winning the Quebec challenge last year, we’re aiming to be crowned Canada’s Most Active Community this year, no less!

Activities

A number of local community organizations, in collaboration with the Recreation, Community Life and Culture Department, have put together a great program that will get people of all ages moving in June and, in so doing, contribute to victory!

Public events for the whole community

In June, several public events are planned to get people moving.
It starts this Saturday, June 3rd with the Défi Sutton Challenge at Goyette-Hill Park, a family, festive and sporting event : join us!

Individual activities

In June, walk, run, garden, hike, play pétanque, tennis… all your activities count! Record your minutes!

In Sutton, you’ll find plenty of ways to get moving every day. Here are a few ideas for local physical activities, and you can add your own!

How do you register your minutes?

Any activity that gets you moving counts towards the Community Challenge: taking a walk, gardening, walking to the shops, vacuuming, walking the dog, running, dancing, swimming… it all counts!

After each activity, simply record your activity minutes in the ParticipACTION app or on their website: sign up today, if you haven’t already!

It’s your postal code that records your minutes for the town of Sutton.

Grant for a new program to provide access to municipal sports activities

The Town is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $5,000 grant as part of ParticipACTION’s Community Challenge! The purpose of this grant is to support physical activity and participation in sport for all by offering free spots in municipal sports activities to low-income families and to newcomers.

Thanks to collaboration with CIUSSS, CAB Sutton and community members involved in welcoming newcomers, at least six families will benefit from free access to these municipal activities this summer.

By providing equal opportunities for all, the Town of Sutton is committed to encouraging physical activity for all members of its community.

This project was made possible in part by the Government of Canada.
