Community Challenge: Hiking, pétanque and more!

After just over a week of participation in the Community Challenge, the Town of Sutton ranked 2nd in Quebec and 18th in Canada! 

To keep you moving throughout the month of June, a great program has been put together don’t miss the upcoming events below!

Free hiking at PENS on Saturday, June 10

On Saturday, June 10, the trails of the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton are open to everyone for free !

Thanks to a grant from ParticipACTION and with the support of the Government of Canada, come and enjoy the fresh air with friends, family or on your own.

Pétanque tournament in the village on Thursday, June 15

The Sutton Curling Club invites you to a pétanque tournament on Thursday, June 15, starting at 4 p.m., at the pétanque court at 7 Academy Street.

In case of rain, the tournament will be postponed to Friday, June 16, 10 a.m.

Spring clean-up at PENS on Saturday, June 17

PENS invites you to its annual trail chore on Saturday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., to reduce trail erosion and increase their durability without major intervention. An activity that’s useful, supportive and gets you moving !

Free mountain bike day for Sutton and Abercorn residents on Sunday, June 18

Plein air Sutton / MTB in collaboration with Mont Sutton presents Vélo-Locaux Day, an initiative that will enable the community to discover or revisit our magnificent mountain bike network free of charge next Sunday, June 18,upon presentation of proof of residency.

What’s more, residents will be able to take advantage of a 50% discount on introductory mountain bike courses and a 15% discount on junior and dual-suspension bike rentals on this day.

This activity is also part of the Participaction’s Community Challenge calendar, which aims to make the Town of Sutton the most active in Canada.

Please note, however, that it will be mandatory to pick up your day ticket at the Mont Sutton Experience boutique, even though it’s free, and to reserve initiation packages and bike rentals in advance. Reservations can be made now by calling the call center at 1 866 538-2545, option 0!
In the event of heavy rain, the event may be postponed to a later date.

Don’t forget: any activity that gets you moving counts towards the Community Challenge: taking a walk, gardening, walking to the shops, vacuuming, walking the dog, running, dancing, swimming… it all counts!
