Filing of nomination paper for the municipal election starting Friday, September 17, 2021

Candidates for the 2021 municipal election who meet the eligibility requirements of the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities must submit their completed nomination paper to the Returning Officer between September 17 and October 1, 2021, by 4:30 p.m.

A person may run for only one Council position in the Municipality, either Mayor or Councillor in a single district. To be eligible, a person must be entitled to be registered on the Town’s electoral list and have resided, continuously or not, on the territory of Sutton for at least the last twelve (12) months preceding September 1, 2021.

As announced in the public notice published on September 15, 2021, the office of the Returning officer of Sutton, located at the Town Hall, is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on October 1, 2021 when it will be open continuously from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To file a nomination paper, it is recommended that you make an appointment in advance with Mr. Jonathan Fortin, Returning Officer, by email at [email protected] or by calling 450 538-2231, extension 241.

Exceptionally, on Friday, September 17, in the absence of the Returning Officer, the appointment must be made with his Assistant, Mr. Louis Pilon, by e-mail at [email protected] or by calling the reception desk at Town Hall at 450 538-2290.
