Notice of work in Goyette-Hill Park—exploratory drilling as part of a hydrogeological study

The Public Works and Fixed Assets Department wishes to advise you that, as part of the comprehensive water supply study announced at the last Town Council meeting, an exploratory well will be drilled in Goyette Hill Park, beginning the week of May 23, 2022.

The operation is similar to drilling an artesian well. However, its purpose is not to extract water, but to know the geotechnical composition of the soil (depth of the rock, presence of clay, composition of the different soil layers, etc.). The drilling site is planned to be away from the usual activities at the park.

Noise and possibly some dust are among the inconveniences that could be caused. Once the drilling work is completed, a team will come by a few times during the summer to collect data, but no noise or nuisance will be generated by these visits.

Start date: Tuesday, May 31, 2022

Expected completion: Thursday, June 2, 2022

Location of work: Goyette Hill Park located at 91 Western Street.
