Notice of Work to Replace a Culvert at the Top of Chemin Réal, August 3 through September 18

The Town of Sutton would like to inform residents and visitors that major construction work will take place from August 3 to September 18, 2026, to replace a large culvert located on Chemin Réal, between street addresses 998 and 1000, near the Pékan waterfall. Traffic and parking will be limited in this area.

Work may be postponed or modified depending on weather conditions or site constraints. Updates will be posted on the Town of Sutton’s website and Facebook page.

Impact on Traffic

  • Chemin Réal will be completely closed starting at house number 998 (past the PENS reception desk), along the last 100 meters of the road.
  • Due to construction and the presence of heavy vehicles, access to Réal Road will be restricted and limited to local traffic from Harold Road.
  • The parking lots at the top of Chemin Réal (near the visitor center + P5 + 1000 Chemin Réal) will be closed.
  • Residents of Val Sutton will have access to their homes.

We ask that you allow a little extra time for your trips and follow the posted signs to ensure everyone’s safety.

Access to the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton (PENS)

Visitors to the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton (PENS) will continue to have access to the reception/ticket booth, located at 800 Chemin Réal (elevation 520). However, parking will be restricted for the duration of the construction work, specifically :

  • Parking at 552 Chemin Réal: OPEN
  • Parking on the left side of Chemin Réal, before the ticket booth: CLOSED
  • Parking lot past the PENS reception desk at 1000 Réal Road: CLOSED
  • Mont Sutton Parking Lot P5: CLOSED
  • No parking will be permitted along Chemin Réal between civic number 552 and the construction zone: PROHIBITED
Pedestrian walkway

To facilitate access to the hiking trail, a temporary pedestrian corridor will be set up along Chemin Réal, between the parking lot at 552 Chemin Réal and the PENS ticket booth. Visitors must follow the posted signs and remain vigilant near the construction zone.
