The 2025 Financial Statement Key Facts Presentation, shown at the meeting, is now available online at sutton.ca/budget-and-financial-reports, Year 2025. You will also find the Mayor’s Report and the Independent Auditor’s Financial Report (see links below).

Here are the main points raised in the mayor’s report:

  • Revenues for 2025 amount to $18,577,276, an increase of 15.04% over the forecast budget.
  • This increase was mainly due to land transfer tax revenues exceeding budget by $354,345, higher interest income of $67,517, as well as the sale of land to the Nature Conservancy of Canada and other revenues totalling $1,935,727.
  • Expenses totaled $17,836,399, down 1.61% on budget.
  • Reconciling items for tax purposes total $1,849,748, leaving a surplus of $2,590,625 for fiscal 2025.
  • All allocated funds and reserves at December 31, 2025 amount to $5,856,884 .
  • The municipality’s long-term debt totals $11,766,802, an increase of 33.22% compared with 2024. This amount, which reflects the level of investment in infrastructure, remains well below the regional average and that of comparable municipalities.
  • The Town’s debt ratios are also well below the targets and ceilings set out in the new Debt Management Policy (in French only) adopted in October 2025.

In conclusion, the Town’s finances benefit from sound, far-sighted management, clearly maintained over the past four years.
