RECYC-QUÉBEC and Protégez-Vous join forces to help citizens extend the life of their goods

On November 17, RECYC-QUÉBEC and Protégez-Vous magazine announced that they had developed together several tools to help citizens extend the life of their household appliances:

  • A free interactive map of Quebec businesses specializing in the repair of household appliances (small and large) and air conditioning

According to the most recent behavioural study conducted in 2021 by RECYC-QUÉBEC, nearly eight out of ten respondents seek to repair their defective items rather than replace them. Thanks to this interactive map, it will now be easier and faster to do so. Lien pour access the map.

  • The Guide 100 Trucs pour faire durer vos appareils domestiques (100 Tips to make your appliances last)

Can you put a hot pan under cold water? How do you maintain your refrigerator to make it last longer? Is there a repairman near me for my toaster, washer or dryer? Is this appliance repairable? Here are a few examples of questions that we ask ourselves every day and that the Guide answers. Lien to get the guide.

  • Repairability rating introduced in Protégez-Vous tests

The partnership between the two organizations, which led to the development of the first repairability rating in Quebec, now allows consumers to base their purchasing decisions on a new criterion, namely which appliances are the most reliable and easy to repair. So far, products such as barbecues, espresso machines and vacuum cleaners have been subject to the rating. Other appliances, such as clothes washers, stoves and refrigerators, will be rated in the coming months.
