Sutton is once again a finalist in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge!

Bravo to all the Community Challenge participants who brought and kept Sutton in second place throughout the month of June, just behind Montreal and ahead of Laval, Quebec City and Gatineau, no less!

As one of the top five in the province, we qualify for the $100,000 super prize for the most active municipality in Canada, or the $15,000 prize for the most active municipality in Quebec. The winners will be announced in the week of July 24.

“It’s a great source of pride for Sutton to have achieved such a result once again, knowing that we had several scheduled events cancelled due to rain, and the PENS trails were closed for an entire weekend due to fire hazards,” said Mayor Robert Benoît. It’s impressive that a small municipality like ours ranks among the very large. It’s a fine example of the mobilization, constancy and dynamism shown by our citizens: a big thank you to the 17 organizations that participated or organized activities to let us move, and to the hundreds of people who individually logged their minutes of physical activity! Congratulations to all!

The Town of Sutton would especially like to thank the members of the organizing committee whose involvement was at the heart of this great success: COOP gym santé Sutton, Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton (PENS), Plein air Sutton/MTB, Sutton Curling Club, Sutton School and Corporation de développement économique de Sutton.
