The flag of Ukraine flies in Sutton

The Town of Sutton wished to express its solidarity with Ukraine and its population, victim of the Russian attacks: the blue and yellow Ukrainian flag is now flying at the town hall.

“The situation is dramatic for Ukrainians in their country and for those who are forced to immigrate, declared the mayor Robert Benoît. Council decided by mutual agreement at the last meeting to raise the Ukrainian flag as a sign of solidarity. We also wish to support the group of citizens of Sutton who have taken steps to welcome a family of Ukrainian refugees.”

The Ukrainian flag will be temporarily withdrawn during the day of Friday, March 11, since the Government of Quebec requests that the official flags be flown at half-mast on the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance for the victims of the COVID-19. It will be flown again at the end of the day.
