Heat waves: take precautions!

The Town of Sutton would like to remind you of the precautions to take in case of extreme heat. And invite you to cool off in the water features at Parc Goyette-Hill!

To mitigate the effects of the heat, we invite young and old alike to enjoy our water games in Goyette-Hill Park, which have been opened ahead of schedule! For your information, the pool will open on June 24.

Recommandations to avoid the harmful effects of heat:

  1. HYDRATE WELL: Drink plenty of a variety of fluids (e.g. water, juice diluted with water, caffeine-free sports drinks) without waiting to feel thirsty, or in the quantities indicated by your doctor;
  2. STAY COOL: Spend at least two hours a day in a cool place (ideally with air conditioning). If outside, STAY IN THE SHADOW;
  3. REDUCE PHYSICAL EFFORT: From 10 a.m. until evening, avoid strenuous physical activity outdoors;
  4. WEAR LIGHTWEIGHT and light-colored clothing;
  5. USE THE WATER GAMES at Parc Goyette-Hill;
  6. Starting June 24, USE THE POOL at Parc Goyette-Hill. Pool opening hours are available on the website;

We also ask you to make sure that the vulnerable people in your life are all right.

Any heat wave alerts and measures will be communicated by the City via the website or Facebook page: stay tuned! For emergencies, call 9-1-1.
