Fête nationale program revised due to rain

After hoping for a change in the weather, we have to face the facts: it’s going to rain on Saturday! But that won’t stop us from launching our festivities, with just a few minor changes.

Friday, June 23 – The opening night of the Nocturnes at the Sutton Art School is maintained

The opening evening of Les Nocturnes, dedicated to the Festival Prends ça court, is still on! Screenings of Quebec shorts will take place inside the Sutton Art School, in the presence of festival director Danny Lennon and his filmmakers.

Bring your chair and blankets!

Saturday, June 24 – Goyette Hill Park

Most activities remain unchanged, with the exception of the inflatable games, line dancing and bike-smoothie.

Join us at 1 p.m. in Parc Goyette-Hill, where you’ll find :

  • our usual water games and the municipal pool, open from 1 to 5 p.m;
  • Fancy face painting for children, who can decorate their faces with creations of their choice from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The activity will take place under the park’s gazebo;
  • a circus workshop by Damkko from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., even if it’s raining;

At 5 p.m., you’ll witness the raising of the flag and official speech with representatives of the Town of Sutton.

Immediately following, the musical part of the festivities begins: the Sutton Encore organization will present three concerts to liven up the evening:

  • from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the opening act, the Vox Manifesta choir, will stimulate your ears by singing French songs in harmony;
  • from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., you’ll have the chance to dance to the sounds of Tom Chicoine;
  • from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the party’s in full swing with headliner Mon Doux Saigneur, sure to win your heart.

At 9:30 p.m., our traditional fireworks display will go off, even if it’s raining.

From 10 to 11 p.m., DJ Fred le Disco Brasseur will have you dancing to popular francophone music.

Bring your umbrellas and raincoats!

In the event of severe thunderstorms

If the weather turns stormy with heavy rain and lightning, we want our artists and suppliers to remain safe. In such a case, the festivities will be cancelled altogether for the day. Stay tuned to our networks to be informed of any changes.

Food and beverages

A number of businesses will be on hand in the late afternoon to provide food and beverages for the occasion. Enjoy fried onions, oktoberfgest hot dogs and blue cotton candy from Mountain View Bloomimg Oignon, and poutine from Pizzeria Resto Cantine 139.
