Open Air Cinema 2023 program

The Recreation, Community Life and Culture Department is pleased to present the free family film program for our 2023 Open Air Cinema evenings.

Back in May, we invited you to give us your preferences for this summer’s film line-up. Here are the four films that won the popular vote: two in French (with English subtitles) and two in English (with French subtitles for one of them only).

Bring your popcorn, chairs and blankets and enjoy the movies under the stars in Veterans Park!

Thursday, July 6 – Coco ferme

8:30 p.m.

Synopsis :
After his father faces financial struggles, twelve-year-old Max is forced to shut down the pawn shop he operates from his garage and move to a small country town. When Max discovers the world of small-scale farming, the young entrepreneur rallies the help of his cousin Charles, along with local youtuber Alice, to start an egg farming business in Charles’s old decaying barn. The animal-friendly Coco Farm quickly becomes a major hit, but the three partners soon find themselves facing the harsh realities of an industry controlled by mega-d agribusinesses.

Synopsis:
When the Justice League are captured by Lex Luthor, Superman’s dog, Krypto, forms a team of shelter-pets who were given super-powers: A hound named Ace, who becomes super-strong, a pig named PB, who can grow to giant-size, a turtle named Merton, who becomes super-fast, and a squirrel named Chip, who gains electric-powers.

Synopsis :
Ever since she was a child, Georgia Nolan has had only one dream: to become a fireman, just like her father. Unfortunately, in New York City in 1930, women are not allowed to be firemen. But, when the city’s firemen begin to disappear in a series of mysterious fires at Broadway theatres, Georgia sees a golden opportunity. She disguises herself as “Joe,” an awkward young man, and joins the team of improvised firemen in charge of stopping the arsonist. Georgia must preserve her false identity at all costs, especially since her father will be in charge of this high-risk investigation.

Synopsis :

With help from a reluctant teacher (Samuel L. Jackson) to train him, our underdog must assume the role of town samurai and team up with the villagers to save the day. The only problem… cats hate dogs.
