BY-LAWS/LEGAL MATTERS

Adoption of Amendment and Authorization to Sign:

  • Council adopted the amendment to resolution number 2019-12-572 entitled “Participation of the City in the project Les Habitations Abordables Sutton within the AccèsLogis Québec program”: the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH) has awarded the HAS affordable housing project an additional grant of $447,500, which will be added to the $304,272 already awarded in March 2021 (read the press release of March 29, 2021). This will provide HAS with a total of $1,260,083 in funding, including the Town’s previous 2019 grants detailed in the same press release.
  • Council authorized the signing of the agreement related to this grant, as it is the Town of Sutton that receives the grant and will pay it to HAS.

RECREATION AND COMMUNITY LIFE

  • Council approved the purchase of a “Velovoûte” bicycle parking: the project to acquire a Velovoûte for parking four bicycles and including two charging stations for electric bicycles was carried out in collaboration with Tourisme Cantons-de-l’Est as part of the Cœurs Villageois. Conditional on the receipt of a grant that will pay for the bicycle parking, the Town will fund its installation at a maximum cost of $10,000. The Velovoûte will be part of the electric bike tour developed by Tourisme Cantons-de-l’Est.

QUESTION PERIOD

  • A citizen asked what a Velovoûte is. ANSWER: It is a secure rack for parking bicycle, including electric bikes.
  • A citizen asked where the location of this bike cart would be. ANSWER: It is not determined at this time.
