The Town of Sutton is a proud ambassador for National Drowning Prevention Week

From July 19 to 25, 2026, the 33rd edition of National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW) will take place under the theme “Being well-prepared is the foundation of safety.” The Town of Sutton is proud to once again serve as an ambassador for the event this year, which is why the aquatic team has prepared interactive activities, information booths, and more for you!

Come and discover tips to increase safety in residential and open water swimming pools: leaflets, quizzes and interactive games for the whole family!

Thursday, July 23, 2026

Information booth | Supervising children around and in the water, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Come and discover the important difference between knowing how to swim and knowing how to bathe safely. We will present the Swim for Life program, the courses offered at the pool, as well as our instructors, all in a fun and interactive way.

Lifeguard for a Day

Are you interested in becoming a lifeguard? Have you always wanted to try your hand at pool supervision? Now’s your chance to give it a try!

  • Thursday, July 23, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., in 30-minute sessions
  • Saturday, July 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in 30-minute sessions

For half an hour, accompanied by a certified lifeguard, you will have the opportunity to supervise a free swim. The lifeguard will answer your questions and teach you effective supervision techniques. You will also have the chance to try out our lifesaving equipment, learn more about our techniques, and understand our responsibilities around a pool.
