New rules for access to the pipeline corridor

At the request of landowners, Council adopted a new By-Law on May 6, modifying access authorizations to the pipeline corridor on our territory. All off-road vehicles (ATVs and snowmobiles) are now prohibited from using this corridor.

This change was made in response to the nuisance caused to property owners by the passage of unauthorized vehicles. The pipeline corridor is located on private lands that have granted right-of-way easements exclusively for the pipeline.

In view of the numerous complaints, the council considered that the use of this corridor by unauthorized vehicles was affecting the safety, tranquility and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining properties. This is why, from now on, the use of an all-terrain vehicle or snowmobile on the gas pipeline right-of-way is prohibited throughout the territory of the Town of Sutton, unless the owner of the land where the right-of-way is located has given his express authorization.

Barriers and prohibition signs have been installed at the entry points. Please respect them.

Please note that this prohibition does not apply to employees or agents of the Town of Sutton, nor to employees or agents of Montreal Pipe Line Limited in the performance of their duties, nor to the Sûreté du Québec, nor to property owners on their own property.
