Municipality Week: Did you know that… (3/5)

As part of Municipality Week, from September 10 to 16, the Town of Sutton is sharing with you information about YOUR municipality, YOUR environment.

  • The Town of Sutton’s Public Works and Fixed Assets Department maintains one of the longest municipal road networks in the Brome-Missisquoi MRC, with 65 km of asphalt roads and 135 km of dirt roads.
  • The remaining roads are either private or managed by the Ministère des Transports (MTQ), namely Maple Street, Route 139 (Principale Street), Route 215 (Chemin de la Vallée), part of Scenic Road and Chemin de la Vallée-Missisquoi (apart from the small section leading to customs).
  • The Town of Sutton is currently preparing an architectural guide to inspire citizens and businesses who wish to integrate their construction or renovation project harmoniously into the natural and built environment of our territory. It is scheduled for release in autumn.
  • Since April 2022, the Sutton Town Hall telephone line has been open 24/7 to answer all calls from our citizens.
  • This year, the Town of Sutton launched its first participatory budget, which attracted a great deal of citizen participation: no fewer than 29 projects were submitted, 16 of which were deemed eligible. The final list of projects will be announced by early October, and the popular vote on the project choices will take place from October 10 to 22.
  • Ten active circuits were designed and presented by the Town of Sutton in January 2022: these circuits, ranging from 1.5 to 8.5 km, offer a variety of itineraries starting from the village to encourage walking, running or cycling while enjoying our beautiful environment.
