The Town deplores vandalism in Goyette-Hill Park

Unacceptable acts of vandalism occurred last night in Goyette-Hill Park, resulting in the unavoidable death of a tree and damage to the ground, as well as the discovery of a knife next to it.

The oak tree was approximately 8 years old and in perfect health. It must now be felled. Replacement costs are estimated at approximately $2,500. The vandals also cut leaves and flowers from a planter and branches near the bike path.

Most seriously, a throwing knife, a dangerous weapon, was found near the site, which is frequented during the day by families and young children, including day campers.

Anyone with information on these acts of vandalism is invited to contact the Sûreté du Québec at 450 266-1122.

It is our collective responsibility to preserve the tranquility, security and maintenance of our parks. That is why we are asking for the cooperation of our citizens and visitors to report any objectionable activity in the park and other public spaces to the police.
