Community Challenge : more activities to keep you moving in June

After three weeks of participation in ParticipACTION’s Community Challenge, the Town of Sutton still ranks 2nd in Quebec, and it is now 14th in Canada!

We go on: lots of great activities to come
between now and the end of June!

Line dancing during the Fête nationale

On Saturday, June 24, it’s Fête nationale du Quebece at Parc Goyette-Hill!

To mark the occasion, FADOQ will be offering a line-dance activity from 1 to 2 p.m. on the Goyette-Hill Park skating rink. Participants’ minutes will be recorded for the Challenge.

Come and have fun while discovering new dance steps!

Free mountain bike day for Sutton and Abercorn residents

Postponed due to rain, the activity takes place on Sunday, June 25: take advantage of this great initiative by Plein air Sutton/MTB in collaboration with Mont Sutton as part of Vélo-Locaux Day: the aim is to enable the community to discover or rediscover its magnificent mountain bike network. Free for Sutton and Abercorn residents upon presentation of proof of residency.

Bonus for residents: 50% discount on introductory mountain bike courses and 15% discount on junior and dual-suspension bike rentals on this day. Please note: day tickets must be picked up at the Mont Sutton Experience boutique, even if free, and reservations for initiation and bike rental packages must be made by calling 1 866 538-2545, option 0!

“Move Sutton”: outdoor cardio exercises on June 27

Big giant practice, all together at 5:30 p.m., outdoors and to music, on the grounds of the John Sleeth Community and Cultural Centre: we’ll do several times the sequence of cardio exercises that Mélissa Tremblay from COOP gym santé Sutton has prepared especially for the Challenge. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

Until then, train at home with the Bouge Sutton the video.

Good to know: all participants will receive a coupon for a $1 discount at Snöbol, valid only on June 27, to end this activity with a nice ice-cold snack!

Pétanque tournament in the village

Postponed due to rain, the tournament will take place on Thursday, June 29, starting at 4 p.m., on our petanque court in Place Rosanne-Cohen, at 7 Academy Street.

It’s a great initiative by the Sutton Curling Club as part of the Community Challenge.

How to participate? Form a team of 4 and contact Louise Hawley by e-mail or by phone at 450 538-5452.

Record your minutes of physical activity at any time!

Don’t forget: any activity that gets you moving counts towards the Community Challenge: taking a walk, gardening, walking to the shops, vacuuming, walking the dog, running, dancing, swimming… it all counts!

After each activity, simply record your activity minutes in the ParticipACTION app or on their website. Sign up today, if you haven’t already!

It’s your postal code that records your minutes for the town of Sutton.

From June 1 to 30: we move in Sutton!
