Sutton, Coeur Villageois new accreditation

The Eastern Township Tourism accreditation Cœurs villageois focuses on the attractiveness of the cœurs villageois and is a means of promoting trips and tourist stays, while maintaining an eco-responsible approach and highlighting characteristics of this new tourist area based on the natural, cultural and human aspects of cities and villages in our area.

Chemin des Cantons

At the Quebec-Vermont border, from the Sutton Mountains to Brome Lake, the Brome-Missisquoi regional municipal county offers magnificent panoramas of the surrounding mountains, forests, farmland, and waterways. Privileged cradle of Loyalists arriving from New England, the American and British influences remain in the region’s architecture. The Townships Trail takes you to Bromont, Lac-Brome (Knowlton), Sutton, Cowansville, Standbridge East, Frelighsburg and Bedford.

The Town is proud to announce that in July 2013, Sutton received the Municipalité amie des aînés (MADA) award in recognition of our efforts to make Sutton a senior-friendly town.

This award highlights the quality of the measures taken by the Town to help seniors “age gracefully” while remaining active in their community. The MADA award is now recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Town of Sutton receives Blue Community certification in 2023!

The Town of Sutton has received Blue Community certification, demonstrating its renewed commitment to the protection of water and public access to safe drinking water. A Blue Community is a community that adopts a community framework to recognize water as a common good. The project is coordinated in Quebec by Eau Secours. In 2023, Quebec alone will have more than 10% of the world's Blue Communities.

Carbon Care Enviro-Access

In July 2013, the Town was awarded a Carbon Care certificate by Enviro-access.

The Carbon CareTM program recognizes organizations’ efforts to responsibly manage and reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs). Through this certification, Enviro-access confirms that the Town is sensitive to the problem of climate change and proactive in its emissions management.

Charging terminals for electric vehicles

The Town of Sutton is proud to offer its citizens and visitors the access to two charging terminals for electric vehicles (Sun Country Highway for all VE (SCH100), 240v / 80A and HPWC Tesla for VE Tesla, 240v / 80A). These are installed in the parking lot adjacent to the Town Hall located at 11 South Principale Street.

The Town of Sutton stands out because recreational bicycling is also very popular over its territory. Over the last few years, the municipality has also encouraged more bicycle trips to its community by adopting the plan “My municipality on foot, by bike” and by installing numerous parking spaces for bicycles and by doing the snow removal of its bike path.
