Services to Citizens
The Town of Sutton cares deeply about the environment and is committed to sound management of its waste. In our ongoing effort to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, the Town of Sutton, in partnership with the Brome-Missisquoi MRC, provides its citizens and businesses with various recycling services.
For more information about waste management and residual materials, see the Waste Management page of the MRC Brome Missisquoi website.
Collection of domestic waste and recyclable materials
To dispose of household garbage and recyclable materials, place them by the side of the road before 7 a.m., the wheels towards the house and at least two feet away from any other object. Wheeled bins must be removed on the same day of the collection.
Collection of large domestic waste (bulky items)
In 2020, large items will be collected by sectors (see list of sectors), two times during the year as follows: from May 11 to 14, 2020 and from September 28 to October 1, 2020 (excluding construction materials and electronics).
To dispose of your large items, at the dates indicated, place them by the side of the road the day before the collect or before 7 a.m. the day of the collect. Everything will be picked up during that day.
To be accepted, branches must be cut in lengths of 3 feet and tied in bunches.
Construction materials must be taken to the Brome-Missisquoi solid waste landfill site (R.I.E.D.S.B.M.). Fees are charged based on weight. Information: 450 263-2351
Household hazardous waste (HHW)
HHW consists of products used at home that can be toxic to you or the environment. These waste materials must not go into your garbage or recycling.
You can get rid of them in an environmentally friendly way by bringing them to the landfill. This service is free for residents of the Brome-Missisquoi MRC, provided you can show two pieces of identification that indicate your place of residence. The HHW will be taken care of in a safe manner and redirected to organizations committed to recycling it.
