Highland Street becomes one-way between the school and Maple Street
Published on May 27, 2021
As of May 31, 2021, Highland Street will become a one-way street between Sutton School and Maple Street in the north-south direction: cars will no longer be able to turn onto Highland Street coming from Maple Street.
A white line was painted last week in order to separate what will be the only traffic lane and the pedestrian lane starting next Monday. Vertical bollards have been added to the dividing line to add to pedestrian safety. A painted crosswalk will also be added in front of the village-mountain trail entrance.
The new pedestrian strip will allow walkers to safely connect Godue Park (along Maple Street) to the existing sidewalks from the school down to Academy Street and the village.
