Emergency Preparedness Week from May 7 to 13, 2023

Emergency Preparedness Week is held from May 7 to 13 under the theme “My safety: my responsibility”. On this occasion, the Ministère de la Sécurité publique (MSP) and its partners wish to make citizens aware of the consequences of a disaster and remind them that in an emergency or disaster situation, they are the first to ensure their own safety as well as that of their family and the protection of their property.

Following the recent events that Quebec has faced, such as the winter storm of December 2022 or the ice storm of April 2023, citizens have seen that the family emergency plan and the emergency kit are important elements in their disaster preparedness. We need to be prepared for any weather event that may occur (e.g. ground movement, extreme heat, high winds and tornadoes, etc.) and require us to stay home for several days.

Consult the Government of Quebec’s information on Emergency situations, disasters and natural hazards.
