Funambules Médias’ Cinéma sous les étoiles festival is coming to Brome-Missisquoi!

The Town of Sutton joins Cowansville and Bromont in hosting the 15th edition of Cinéma sous les étoiles, a documentary film festival organized by Funambules Médias. As part of the Nocturnes program, the Sutton School of Art will host a screening of this new regional event on Friday, August 9.

Funambules Médias, the company accustomed to Montreal parks is pleased to announce that a series of 5 screenings will be presented in three municipalities of the Brome-Missisquoi MRC in August! The towns of Sutton, Cowansville and Bromont are pleased to offer you a program of documentaries on a variety of themes. Each film accompanied by discussions with the filmmakers or specialists on the themes in question.

As part of les Nocturnes, Sutton’s free show for all will take place on Friday, August 9, with the presentation of Amélie Dussault’s film Récolter l’hiver. This Quebec documentary will transport you into the daily lives of market gardeners who have taken on the improbable challenge of growing vegetables without any heating while it’s snowing in the sky.

A great atmosphere awaits spectators from 7 p.m. with: refreshment bar with popcorn and nibbles, thrift shop sale, children’s art exhibition and surprise musical performances will be offered before the film presentation by the filmmaker or a member of the production, at 8 p.m., followed by the film screening at sunset.

Please note that the films will be presented in their original French language with English subtitles.

  • Saturday, August 10 at 8:30 p.m., at the Cowansville Nature Center, with the film L’océan vu du cœur by Iolande Cadrin-Rossignol & Marie-Dominique Michaud, Quebec.
  • Wednesday August 14 at 8:15 p.m., at Place Publique in Bromont, with the film Low-Tech – Les bâtisseurs du monde d’après by Adrien Bellay, France.
  • Friday August 16 at 8:15 p.m., at the Cowansville Nature Center, with the film Ma cité évincée de Priscillia Piccoli & Laurence Turcotte-Fraser, Québec.
