July 16 to 22 is National Drowning Prevention Week!

Every summer, the Société de Sauvetage du Québec holds National Drowning Prevention Week to focus community attention on the problem of drowning and how to prevent it.  Once again this year, the team of lifeguards at the Sutton municipal pool will be taking part in raising awareness of this theme.

Program

Thursday, July 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: information booth

Come and meet our lifeguards at an information booth to answer your questions. Here are just a few of the topics to be covered: drowning statistics in Quebec, safe behaviour on natural bodies of water, supervision of children and your ability to save lives.

Saturday, July 22, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: “Lifeguard for a day” activity

Would you like to become a lifeguard? Come and observe the daily life of a lifeguard by the pool for a 30-minute period and learn more about his or her duties and responsibilities. Register for this activity, open to all ages, with the pool lifeguards or by e-mail at  [email protected].

Throughout the week, our staff will be available at the pool to offer advice and answer your questions. We look forward to seeing you!
