Mini garage sale and silent auction at the Musée des communications et d’histoire de Sutton on Saturday, May 15

Are you drawn to museum objects that tell stories? What if you had one?

Some artifacts from the Musée des communications et d’histoire de Sutton will be on sale this Saturday, May 15, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

A garage sale including a silent auction will be set up outside the museum: this will be the perfect opportunity to get your hands on a rare pearl among a collection of antique objects. Bottles, projectors, sewing machine, televisions, old radios and other little wonders will be available at low prices.

The 150 objects that will be on sale will delight enthusiasts of antique devices and tools, tinkerers, antiquity enthusiasts as well as artists in search of materials.

A sale of reason

The Culture Department has been working for several months to reposition and showcase the collection of 1,500 artefacts from the Musée des communications et d’histoire de Sutton, which belongs to the Town. The need arose to lighten its collection and prioritize what should be kept in direct relation to its history in order to maximize storage and exhibition. Objects which did not meet this criterion and could not be added to the collections of other museums were therefore selected for sale. They all have a special interest that in one way or another pays homage to our community and to all to whom they belonged. The Town wishes to give them the possibility of a new existence.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!
