The Nocturnes, access to Quebec author cinema at the Sutton School of Art

In partnership with the Sutton School of Art, the Town of Sutton is offering exclusive free tickets to Sutton residents and homeowners to attend film screenings as part of Les Nocturnes. Spectators can look forward to a lively atmosphere, with activities including a refreshment bar with popcorn and snacks, a thrift sale, an exhibition of children’s artworks and surprise musical performances before the film is presented by the filmmaker or a member of the production team, and then screened at sunset. Please note that most films will be presented in their original French with English subtitles.

The next event is on Friday, July 19, with the presentation of the following film productions:

D’ICI, D’AILLEURS, a 19-minute short film directed by Chadi Bennani.
At the start of the summer of their 16th birthdays, Adam, Ana and Dahlia turn to family and friends to question their cultural heritage. Through intimate conversations, D’ici, D’ailleurs juxtaposes the different influences and realities governing the development of the cultural identity of 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants.

L’AUDIENCE, a 93-minute feature film directed by Émilie B. Guérette & Peggy Nkunga Ndona.
Having fled the Democratic Republic of Congo, Peggy, Simon and their children seek asylum in Canada at the end of a perilous migratory route. The film follows the family day by day, through the legal maze of their quest for refugee status.
