In order to adjust our urban planning instruments to the challenges and particularities of our territory’s multifaceted identity, the Town of Sutton undertook in December 2020, in collaboration with the firm Stantec, to update its urban plan and by-laws. The review focuses, among other things, on the promotion of adaptation and resilience measures in the face of climate change, on the preservation of the vitality and spirit of the village core, on the protection and enhancement of the natural and built environment, as well as on the diversification of available housing. The objective of the process is to offer our citizens a simpler and more accessible structure that will facilitate the use of our urban planning tools.

With the intention to ensure that the result meets the expectations of the population as well as the collective vision of the Sutton of today and tomorrow, citizen participation sessions with the population are planned in the spring and summer of 2021. The first one took place on May 26. Information on the progress of the urban plan updating will be communicated as it becomes available through our website. Stay tuned for news on the web site and participate in consultations!
