News from the Buying local is nourishing! campaign

In March, as part of Nutrition Month, the Buying local is nourishing! campaign was held to raise funds to help reduce food insecurity in Sutton.

This campaign results from the work of the Sutton Food Security Committee, composed of our two organizations in the fight against food insecurity: the Centre d’action bénévole (CAB) Sutton and  Racine pop, the Town of Sutton, the Sutton School and the CIUSSSE-CHUS de l’Estrie.

The food security of Sutton’s youth was identified as a priority for action. As a result, donation boxes – under the label “Buying local is nourishing” – were distributed in participating stores to collect your donations from March 22 to April 1. We would like to thank all the businesses who took part in the fund-raising campaign. The committee hopes to repeat the fund-raising campaign next year.

In total, close to $170 were raised, all of which was donated to the Sutton School to provide healthy snacks for students until the end of the year.

Thank you for your generous contributions!
