Pleasant Street spring may reopen by next week

If the results of the latest tests conducted this week are conclusive, the public water source located on Pleasant Street (Route 215) could be back in service by next week.

As announced on September 21, the spring had to be shut down for a minimum of 30 days due to the detection of total coliform bacteria making it unfit for consumption. The Town has strictly followed the guidelines of the ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC) in the event of contamination and has taken the required samples at regular intervals since its closure: these have not revealed any out-of-spec levels of total coliforms, which is good news.

However, the Ministry has requested that two new consecutive samples, with a maximum 72-hour interval, be taken this week to detect the presence of E.coli (fecal coliforms). The first sample was taken today, the second will be taken tomorrow. The results of these samples will be known by Friday. If they are conclusive, the source will become operational again. A new notice will be published.

We thank the population for their patience and understanding.
