Reminder – Distribution of reserved rainwater harvesting barrels on May 18

As announced in its Earth Day 2024 news, the Town of Sutton is offering, for a second year, a subsidy program for the purchase of rainwater harvesting barrels. The first fifty barrels have all been reserved. Those who have received confirmation will be able to pick them up on Saturday, May 18, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., in the Town Hall parking lot.

220-litre drums, valued at $125, will be available at a cost of $50 plus tax ($57.50) for Sutton residents. In this second phase, 50 new barrels will be distributed. A representative of Les Bariteux, the company that manufactures these barrels, will be on hand to give you your barrel and explain its operation and maintenance.

Distribution

Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Town Hall parking lot.

Payment of $57.50 will be required in cash only and in the exact amount at the time of barrel delivery. Proof of residence must be presented on site.

Sutton residents who were unable to reserve a barrel this year can still send an e-mail to [email protected] to express their interest. These people will be put on a waiting list for next year’s distribution, or in the event that a reserved barrel becomes available this year.

By subsidizing part of the cost of the barrels, the Town of Sutton wishes to encourage the population to save drinking water from its aqueduct and private wells on its territory.
